Two years after taking the leadership, X CEO Linda Yaccarino stated in a post on Wednesday that she is leaving her position as the company’s leader.
Yaccarino resigned after users claimed that Grok, X’s AI chatbot, used antisemitic cliches when responding to some users.
In her letter of resignation, Yaccarino made no reference to the present controversy.

“I m incredibly proud of the X team – the historic business turn around we have accomplished together has been nothing short of remarkable,” she stated. “We began with the crucial preliminary work required to restore advertiser confidence and give our users’ safety, notably that of youngsters, first priority. From ground-breaking inventions like Community Notes and, shortly, X Money, to bringing the most recognizable voices and content to the platform, this team has worked tirelessly.”
Before joining X (formerly known as Twitter), Yaccarino worked as a media executive for a long time. She was previously NBCUniversal’s chair of global partnerships and advertising. After nearly twenty years as a media executive at Turner, Yaccarino joined NBCUniversal in 2011.
Grok on Tuesday linked a number of antisemitic stereotypes to an account it described as “Ashkenazi Jewish.” When nasty remarks regarding the victims of the recent floods in Texas were posted online, that account sparked controversy. The Grok account’s administrators stated in an X post that they are “actively working to remove the inappropriate post.”
