MILFORD — Despite some chilly rain and overcast skies, Milford’s downtown streets filled with the smell of fresh street food and the buzz of community as the first Food Truck Friday of the season kicked off 5 p.m. Friday, June 13.

Organized by the local nonprofit Meet Milford, the event featured 11 food trucks and a variety of family-friendly activities, all centered around this month’s theme: “Growing Our Community.” The eco-friendly itinerary included planting stations, a butterfly-themed educational tent, and the “ecoDash,” race, a 1 mile walk/run up and down Main Street.

“We did most of the setup in the rain,” said Meet Milford board member Tricia Gall. “It was a bit rough, but everyone still came out. There’s already a bunch of people mingling … it’s a good sign for the evening.”

Though one food truck was unable to attend, Gall said the turnout from both vendors and visitors was better than expected considering the damp weather. As residents strolled between trucks and tents, children could be seen eating frozen treats and exploring activity booths.

Food Truck Fridays are a summer tradition in Milford, running from June through October on the second Friday of each month.

The events bring together food vendors, local nonprofits, entertainment, and community members with the goal of fostering connection and supporting local causes.

Future Food Truck Fridays will feature rotating themes including a pirate-themed July 11 event, a summer beach party and street dance on Aug. 8, a community game night on Sept. 12, and the season finale “Fall Fling” on Oct. 10.

Friday’s event ran from 5 to 8 p.m. along Main Street and will continue monthly with the same hours.
