Hough, Ashley Marie
WARSAW A woman from Warsaw was taken into custody on suspicion of stealing a moped.
Ashley Marie Hough, 43, of 2960 E. Joshua Drive in Warsaw, is accused of committing the level 6 felony of motor theft.
A Warsaw police officer responded to a moped theft on May 30. One man claimed to have paid $180 for the moped from Hough.
Court documents state that the man placed the moped at a site in Warsaw after it stopped working on May 28 and took the key with him. An hour later, he came back to find the moped gone. Hough took his call, but when she recognized the caller, she hung up.
The stolen motorcycle was discovered abandoned in a field south of Warsaw on May 31 by a deputy from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
When Hough found out the moped was parked someplace in Warsaw, she sold it and decided she wanted it back, she said in an interview on June 1. She informed the police that she had had the moped loaded onto a truck and transported to a storage facility.
Hough claimed that after receiving a voicemail from law police, she felt anxious and abandoned the moped in a field.
Hough was previously taken into custody and set free on bond.
