AKRON — The Tippecanoe Valley FFA forestry team is the state champion again in the practical forestry contest.
The team competed in the state contest on Saturday, April 26, at the Indiana FFA Leadership Center in Trafalgar. Team members had to take a written test on forestry management, practicums on timber cruising for board feet, timber stand improvement, leaf, seed and wood ID, chainsaw parts and maintenance and team activity.
Team members were Lillian Dunbar (high individual), Luke Tucker (second high individual), Aaron Backus (fifth high individual) and Keith Haney (eighth high individual). By winning the state contest, they earned a trip to the national FFA contest at the National FFA Convention in October in Indianapolis.
The team is coached by FFA Advisor Michael Jones.
