Cincinnati Trey Hendrickson, a star for the Bengals, arrived at training camp on Wednesday even though he was no closer to signing a contract with Cincinnati.
Hendrickson arrived at camp in simple clothing, without a helmet or pads. He didn’t seem to be taking part in any exercises. He did spend some time signing autographs for fans who were watching.

On social media Tuesday evening, ESPN’s Adam Schefter initially announced that Cincinnati’s All-Pro defensive end will be making his way back to the Tri-State from Florida in time for camp on Wednesday. Schefter stated that although his return will put an end to his holdout, which entails fines of $50,000 per day, the two parties are not “any closer to a new deal.”
“The NFL’s last holdout is coming to an end,” Schefter stated.
ESPN sources: According to sources, Trey Hendrickson intends to report to the Bengals camp on Wednesday, ending his holdout without getting any closer to a new contract. In addition to preventing the $50,000 daily fines, reporting to camp is a good-faith attempt to initiate talks.qxToasKHtM Thepic.twitter.com
Schefter and fellow NFL analyst Ian Rapoport both stated on social media that the Pro Bowler’s attendance at training camp demonstrates his confidence in closing a deal.
At the Bengals’ annual luncheon last week, owner Mike Brown told reporters that Hendrickson “deserves a raise.” According to Brown, the team has extended an offer to him, but no agreement has been reached.
“He’s a fine player, he’s a good guy, we want him here … we’ll see,” Brown stated. “I’m not convinced that it won’t be completed. The earlier, the better, in my opinion.
Shemar Stewart, a fellow edge rusher selected by Cincinnati in the first round of this year’s draft, and the organization came to an agreement late last week. The youngster first resisted a clause that might nullify guarantees in his contract due to disagreements about its wording.
Both parties ultimately reached a compromise when Stewart accepted the terms and the Bengals increased his signing bonus by $500,000 from December to the present.
Now, Hendrickson is the center of attention.
