ELKHART — Church Community Services, a faith-based agency in Elkhart County, will host its second annual Stand Up For CCS: A Seriously Funny Fundraiser 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the historic Goshen Theater, 216 S. Main St., Goshen.

The evening will feature a family-friendly night of stand-up comedy including local acts Corey Mann and Elise Davis, with a headlining set by nationally recognized comedian Josh Sneed, known for his appearances on Comedy Central.

Guests will enjoy not just laughter, but the chance to be part of a powerful transformation for individuals served by CCS programs such as job training, food security, financial assistance, and empowerment for women in crisis.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and general admission tickets cost $30. VIP tickets cost $80 and include a pre-party starting at 6 p.m., with food, drinks, a meet and greet and premium seating.

Proceeds from the evening will support the work of CCS, including empowering women and feeding the hungry as well as providing fresh produce to other area food pantries and keeping people in their homes by preventing homelessness.

Additionally, proceeds will sustain and expand these key programs for families and individuals surviving the storms of life across the county.

“Compassion and love for people is at the heart of everything we do and the services we provide,” says Keith Sarber, executive director of CCS. “But it’s like treading water, becoming harder and harder for (people) to survive the economical and personal hardships they’re facing. This event is an opportunity for our community to come together and help families rise above those challenges.”

“This event is really twofold; a night to laugh and a chance to change a life,” adds Chet Miller-Eshleman, development director for CCS. “It’s tough seeing people, especially women, come in during a financial crisis, battling depression or low self-esteem. But after just a short period of time, these same individuals walk out into the community, face obstacles head-on and inspire others along the way.”
