Rita Ruth (DePoy) Tracy passed away quietly at her comfortable log home in Baldwin, Michigan, at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025.

The late Hazel (Saine) DePoy and Jacob Warren DePoy welcomed her into the world on May 25, 1948, in Winamac. Out of the four sisters, Rita was the youngest. Her sister Bonnie (Donald) Shumaker of Ellwood died before her, while her sisters Karen (Robert) Neff of Bourbon and Colleen (Charles Hollenbeck) of Roann are still alive.

On March 20, 2025, Rita and Owen Lewis Tracy, the love of her life, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Bradley (Dee) Tracy of Argos, Rodney (Lynette) Tracy of Hillsboro, Ohio, and the late Laura Lynn Tracy of Bourbon were their three children. Brandi Utter, Cody (Shanai) Utter, Travis Tracy, Dustin Tracy, Jesse Tracy, Rachael Tracy, and Connor Tracy were Rita’s seven grandkids. Additionally, she left behind a number of great-grandchildren, including Alex Laura Marie Tracy (Jesse Tracy, Ryann Cromer), Bruce, Jeffrey, and Samuel Utter (Cody Utter), and Skilee Utter and Rylee Jonas (Brandi Utter).

Rita lavished her daughter Laura Lynn with affection and care for forty years. Rita enjoyed crocheting lovely afghans and baby blankets to give as presents. She is renowned for her exquisite flower beds, her teachings in canning and gardening, and the delectable meals she shared at the table with her family and friends. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as traveling with Owen in her latter years.

Pastor Kristin Harp will preside over a graveside service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bourbon on Friday, June 27 at noon.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the community and their friends for their assistance during this trying time.

Rita’s life is being celebrated with services from Deaton-Clemens Funeral Homes in Bourbon. Visit www.deatonclemensfh.com to share memories with the family and sign the online guest book.
