Nearly 500 Kentucky residents in 78 counties affected by severe weather in 2025 have received more than $343,000 in funding from the Kentucky REALTORS Relief Foundation (KRRF) since Governor Beshear issued the first State of Emergency on February 14.
KRRF provided lodging aid for individuals who were relocated by the natural catastrophe, as well as housing assistance to help cover mortgage or rental payments in response to the deadly storms, flooding, and tornadoes that have affected communities around the Commonwealth.
“This year, we have experienced several natural disasters that have affected Kentuckians throughout the entire state,” said Barb Curtis, President of Kentucky REALTORS. Because everyone deserves a secure place to call home, we wanted to make sure communities around the Commonwealth had access to the support and tools they needed to rebuild. We at Kentucky REALTORS are dedicated to doing everything in our power to support our neighbors.
For each State of Emergency proclaimed on February 14, April 2, and May 16, a distinct grant was created. Among the totals are:
February 14: 290 families received $195,508April 2: 146 families received $108,209.May 16: 53 families received $39,437$343,154 in total, given to 489 families
Eligible people might apply online for funding, although relief aid could only cover up to $1,000 per household for one month’s worth of housing costs. Here is a heat map showing the total number of 2025 KRRF applications per county.
According to Ann Elizabeth Delahanty, president of the Kentucky REALTORS Relief Foundation, the organization was honored to assist when our state most needed it, whether it was through housing assistance or the delivery of much needed supplies. Many of us experienced these terrible disasters firsthand, and I’m happy that Kentucky REALTORS was able to support families throughout the state.
Throughout the state, real estate agents are committed to the communities they work in. KRRF and the national REALTORS Relief Foundation have provided approximately $2 million in relief cash and housing support to victims of natural disasters in Kentucky since the devastating tornado outbreak in western Kentucky in December 2021.
Kentucky REALTORS have responded to many of the state s severe weather incidents since the 2021 tornadoes, including the deadly flooding in eastern Kentucky in 2022, flooding in western Kentucky in the summer of 2023 and tornadoes in western Kentucky last year.
