In Covington, Kentucky, on July 30, 2025 The word at The Carnegie this August is GREASE! The popular rock ‘n’ roll musical concludes a thrilling summer of theater.
In GREASE, viewers are transported to Rydell High in the 1950s. Danny and Sandy are balancing friendship, love, and the rigors of high school after a passionate summer affair. This thrilling new show is full of young energy, glitz, and gritty elements. Rediscover the enchantment of this timeless masterpiece that has won hearts for many generations.
Sandy, the Academy Award-nominated song “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” Grease, and “You’re the One That I Want,” which were both #1 singles on the Billboard Top 100 list, will all be featured in the show. Along with the songs made popular by the original stage play, such as Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin, and We Go Together, these songs will also be heard.
English instructor Miss Lynch will be portrayed by Broadway veteran Paige Davis, who is most known for hosting TLC’s Trading Spaces. Students and recent graduates from Ohio Northern University, Otterbein University, Point Park University, Elon University, Xavier University, and the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music are also included in the cast.
Eric Byrd, who oversaw the Carnegie’s successful productions of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, RENT, and GUYS AND DOLLS, is the director and choreographer of the show. The music director is Matthew Umphreys. In addition to being the music director for the previous season’s TICK, TICK, BOOM, Umphreys is the founder and director of Queen City Cabaret, a Carnegie resident company.
