Chase T. Anglemyer
NAPPANEE — An Elkhart man with a prior conviction for attempted murder was arrested for allegedly seriously injuring a woman.
Chase T. Anglemyer, 34, Elkhart, is charged with aggravated battery, a level 3 felony; and strangulation, a level 6 felony.
On May 13, Nappanee Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a child, who said a woman was bleeding badly in a bathroom.
According to court documents, the woman was bleeding profusely and heavily from her face, with both eyes swollen to the point they almost could not open. The woman told police she was sitting on a couch holding a child when Anglemyer became upset she had not responded to text messages he sent her.
As the incident escalated, Anglemyer placed his hands around the woman’s neck, strangling her to the point of unconsciousness. When she regained consciousness, Anglemyer allegedly punched the woman’s head multiple times and bit her upper left shoulder. The woman also said Anglemyer ripped a patch of hair out of her scalp during the struggle.
Anglemyer stopped and left the scene when a child in the home called 911. The child told officers this wasn’t the first time Anglemyer had been mean and hurt the woman.
When medical personnel were called to assist the woman, they were responding to a single-vehicle rollover accident involving Anglemyer.
Both Anglemyer and the woman were taken to a hospital for their injuries.
At the time of this case, Anglemyer was on probation in Marshall County after being convicted of attempted murder in 2013. In that case, Anglemyer beat a woman with a screwdriver and wrapped a hair straightener’s cord around her throat. He was sentenced to 30 years in the Indiana Department of Correction and was released in July 2022.
Anglemyer was also convicted of domestic battery in 2012.
Anglemyer was booked in the Elkhart County Correctional Complex on May 16.
