Cincinnati Republicans are spending over $1 million on attack commercials against him, Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky said on ABC News Sunday.
During his appearance on ABC News’ “This Week,” Massie, a Republican who covers essentially all of Northern Kentucky and beyond, discussed a bipartisan measure he is filing with Democratic Representative Ro Khana that would require the release of all Jeffrey Epstein data.
At the end of the segment, Massie mentioned that Republicans are spending a lot of money on attack commercials against him, even though they had already talked about the law and their reasons for supporting it.
“If we don’t vote on this and the midterm elections come around, I’ll tell you what will be a liability politically: everyone will just check out because Donald Trump and the Republicans broke his promises. We’ll lose most of it. By the way, Republicans are spending $1.8 million on advertisements that criticize me,” Massie stated.
Massie went on to suggest that Republicans are paying for the advertisements because he is introducing legislation such as his bipartisan bill.

Massie has positioned himself against President Trump and other Republicans on previous occasions.
Trump promised to run a “really hard” campaign to defeat Massie in June after the congressman chastised him for his choice to attack Iran.
Trump’s declaration that a “very successful” attack had been launched on Iran was shared on social media by Massie, who referred to the action as “not Constitutional.” Massie continued to criticize the move on his social media sites after that first tweet.
“When two countries are bombing each other daily in a hot war, and a third country joins the bombing, that’s an act of war,” Massie said to social media. “I’m amazed at the mental gymnastics being undertaken by neocons in DC (and their social media bots) to say we aren’t at war… so they can make war.”
Following Massie’s original remarks, Trump went on social media to voice his own disapproval of Massie. He also announced that he would be supporting Massie’s opponent in the spring Republican primary.
“Despite his claims to the contrary, Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky is not MAGA,” Trump posted on Truth Social. In reality, MAGA doesn’t respect him, doesn’t know him, and doesn’t want him. His vote is virtually always “NO,” regardless of how good something is. He is a negative force. He is a simple-minded “grandstander” who believes that Iran’s possession of the most advanced nuclear weapon is politically advantageous while simultaneously shouting “DEATH TO AMERICA” whenever possible.
“Weak, ineffective,” “lazy, grandstanding, nonproductive,” and “drop this pathetic LOSER, Tom Massie, like the plague!” are some of the derogatory terms Trump used to describe Massie in the tweet.
According to Massie, Trump “declared so much War on him today it should require an Act of Congress.” Massie then repeated Trump’s tirade on him.
Trump again attacked Massie in May after the congressman opposed his “big, beautiful” budget proposal.
To be honest, I believe he is a grandstander, Trump stated. He ought to be voted out of office, in my opinion.
In 2022, Massie was re-elected to the House of Representatives of Kentucky, defeating opponents Matthew Lehman and Ethan Osborne with 65% of the vote in the contest for Kentucky’s 4th congressional district. As part of the Tea Party movement, he won both a special and regular election to fill the vacancy left by former Rep. Geoff Davis, and he has been in Congress ever since. He served as Lewis County’s judge-executive before.
