Delivered to your inbox every weekday morning, these are the stories that everyone in NKY will be talking about.

Erlanger Mayor Jessica Fette posted on the city’s Facebook page on Tuesday, saying, “Patty gave everything she had to this community.” Her dedication, generosity, and leadership had an impact on all facets of our city, including economic development, public safety, and beautification initiatives.

Patty helped create Erlanger, not simply serve it.

In 1980, Suedkamp became associated with the city for the first time. A founding member of the Volunteer in Police Services, she was the first secretary of the Erlanger Fire Department, a volunteer on the Erlanger Rescue Squad, and a member of the Erlanger Fire Auxiliary. She served several terms in the city council after initially joining in 1999, however she chose not to run for office again in 2020. On December 2, 2020, the city honored her service with a proclamation.

“The most important thing is that we respect each other,” Suedkmap said in 2020 when speaking to LINK nky (then River City News) on her tenure on the council. Erlanger’s City Council now has nine members, down from twelve at the time. You won’t receive respect if you don’t show it. As a group, most of us are concentrated. At any given moment, at least ten of the twelve jell.

Later in her message, the mayor expressed her deepest sympathies to her children, her extended family, and the other individuals whose lives she impacted. In the city she loved so much, her memory will endure.
