After struggling to coordinate veterinary services across a busy network of clinics, Campbell County is turning to Boone County for a one-stop solution.
Delivered to your inbox every weekday morning, these are the stories that everyone in NKY will be talking about.
A full-time veterinarian has been added to the Boone County Fiscal Court’s animal services division. At a meeting on August 20, the Campbell County Fiscal Court authorized the use of those services for animals under Campbell County Animal Services’ care. The county says it will lead to more dependable and consistent veterinarian care at or below present prices.
The county now uses a network of veterinarians for a variety of procedures, including surgery and spaying and neutering. “The county spends a lot of time trying to schedule those surgeries and on transport,” said Matt Elberfeld, the administrator of Campbell County.
Campbell County is able to pay Boone County the same amount, or less, for all of its veterinary services in one location because to the arrangement.
To make sure none were missed, Elberfeld said the county issued information requests to a large number of area veterinarians.
Elberfeld stated that none of them had replied. Since they’re all extremely busy, I believe it makes sense for us to choose Boone County. For us, it will be more cost-effective and efficient.
