PD: Man dies after shooting in Florence, suspect in custody

A gunshot occurred in Florence on Friday night, leaving one guy dead.

According to the Florence Police Department, officers responded to the 100 block of Lloyd Avenue for reports of a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Before Florence EMS could respond, officers on the scene provided emergency care. After being sent to Saint Elizabeth-Florence Hospital, the victim was declared deceased.

According to preliminary findings, the victim and the suspect got into a verbal altercation about custody. Police said that once the disagreement got heated, the suspect pulled out a revolver and fired one round, hitting the victim.

According to authorities, the suspect was taken into custody at the site.

According to the police, there isn’t currently a threat to the neighborhood.

The probe is still going on.
