La Salle High School graduate Devin Taylor signs with the Athletics

Cincinnati is selected in the second round of the Major League Baseball Draft. Devin Taylor, who graduated from La Salle High School in 2022, has committed to the Athletics.

Taylor earned a $2.5 million signing bonus with the Athletics after being chosen as the No. 48 pick on July 13.

Early on Wednesday afternoon, Jim Callis, a senior writer for MLB.com, confirmed Taylor’s signing. WCPO 9 Sports received confirmation of the signing from Taylor’s agent, Jeff Gatch. $2,031,500 was the slot value associated with the No. 48 draft pick.

Taylor is now in Mesa, Arizona, and is anticipated to play in the ACL.

This past season, Taylor, 21, was named a unanimous All-American at Indiana. He set the program’s all-time home run record in April. He had 54 home runs by the end of his IU career.

According to IU, Taylor had 229 hits in 655 at-bats and hit at least 16 home runs in each of the three seasons. In the years between his freshman and junior seasons, his batting average increased from.315 to.374.

According to IU, Taylor was the seventh-highest player taken in the program’s history during the summer MLB Draft era (since 1965).

Perfect Game, Baseball America, and the College Baseball Foundation all named Taylor to their first team. D1 Baseball and other publications selected him as a second-team choice. Throughout his college career, he was named to the All-American team eight times.

During his time at IU, Taylor contributed to the Hoosiers’ more than 100 victories. He qualified for two NCAA tournaments and three Big Ten tournaments. During Taylor’s tenure, Indiana won seven postseason games.

After his junior season, Taylor was featured in every major collegiate baseball publication.

Landyn Vidourek of the University of Cincinnati has joined the Los Angeles Dodgers. Former Badin player Vidourek was chosen in the third round (104th overall choice).

According to UC, Vidourek is the 52nd player in the history of the UC baseball program to be selected in the MLB Draft.

This past season, Vidourek made contributions in every aspect of the game and was named honorable mention All-Big 12.
