Much of the tri-state, including Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties, has been put under a heat advisory
by the National Weather Service
. The advisory for Northern Kentucky is in effect until 8 p.m. Friday evening.

Heat indexes (i.e., the feeling of heat outside) during this time could reach as high as 103 degrees. The service recommends “extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.”

Several cooling centers throughout the region have opened to help those who otherwise don’t have access to cooling technology.
Several government buildings in Kenton County
have opened their doors to the public Thursday and Friday. The Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky in Covington will also host a cooling center for adults only both Thursday and Friday and over the weekend.
Campbell County, on the other hand, put out a short video showing where in the county people could go to “beat the heat,” which you watch below.
