Biden’s doctor pleads the Fifth as House Republicans press on health concerns

During a deposition with the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, which is looking into whether there was a cover-up surrounding Biden’s alleged mental decline, the former president’s doctor refused to answer questions.

During the approximately one-hour session, Dr. Kevin O. Connor invoked his Fifth Amendment rights, according to a source familiar with the testimony who spoke to Scripps News.

The action was immediately criticized by the committee’s Republican members.

Committee Chairman James Comer stated that although the American people want openness, Dr. O’Connor would prefer to keep the truth hidden. When questioned if he was instructed to fabricate information regarding President Biden’s health and suitability as US president, Dr. O’Connor invoked the Fifth Amendment.

Republicans, on the other hand, were charged by Democrats with partisan attacks.

According to Rep. Robert Garcia, the ranking member of the oversight committee, Republicans are fixated on the past rather than examining President Trump’s wrongdoing and lowering prices for American households.

During the 2024 campaign, Biden’s health emerged as a major concern. After a highly criticized debate performance in which he occasionally lost his train of thought and appeared disoriented, he withdrew from the contest.

Biden said that a cold and jet lag had an impact on the performance.
