Due to staffing issues and decreased enrollment, Millersburg Elementary-Middle School will return to being merely an elementary school in the fall.
MILLERSBURG After the Fairfield Community School Board took action on Thursday, June 19, Millersburg Elementary-Middle School will formally revert to its previous name and structure as Millersburg Elementary this fall.
In order to move Millersburg’s seventh- and eighth-grade students to Fairfield Junior-Senior High School, board members decided to reorganize the school to accommodate kindergarten through sixth grade.
Monica Kegerreis, assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction, and accountability, stated that after the board minutes are approved in July, she will send the required documentation to the state.
Following the discussion, Kegerreis clarified that the low enrollment in Millersburg’s upper grades and difficulties staffing those classrooms were the driving forces behind the shift.
The change will be implemented for the 2025–2026 academic year.
