On Friday, June 20, 2025, Warsaw resident Steven Robert Brown, 70, died away quietly in the company of his loved ones.
Arnold Edward Brown and Joan Violet (Hampton) Brown welcomed him into the world on June 25, 1954, in Warsaw. Steve grew up in Kosciusko County and attended Warsaw High School, graduating in 1972. He married Judy Ann Benton, his lifelong best friend, on June 8, 1985. This month, they had the good fortune to commemorate their 40th wedding anniversary.
Steve retired after 30 years of happily serving the city of Warsaw as a police officer. He had a strong sense of duty, was dependable, and was stern when needed. In Warsaw, he was also employed for Armstrong Products. Steve loved vintage vehicles, particularly his 1967 Chevelle.
He was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, and spouse. Steve’s wife, Judy Ann Brown, of Warsaw; his son, Matthew Ryan (Viki) Brown, of Bremen; and his two daughters, Jennifer Ann Mink (Lamont Bowman), of Pahrump, Nevada, and Julie Ann Hall Patton (Jason Patton), of Warsaw, will always remember him. He also has two brothers, Michael (Lisa) Brown, Ohio, and Scott (Dawn) Brown, Warsaw; his sister, Tracey (Mark Poling) Grose, Warsaw; and ten grandchildren, Samantha Mink, Tonopah, Nev., Sophie Ryan Martinez, Pahrump, Nev., Jude William Hall, Warsaw, Madison Mark, Warsaw, Allison Mark, Argos, Noah Brown, Plymouth, Jordan Brown, Plymouth, and Caythan, Liliana and Dean Cullen, Bremen. His parents, brother-in-law Alan Grose, and daughter Trisha Lynn Mark passed away before him.
Steve’s family will celebrate his life. The Salvation Army Worship & Community Center, located at 501 E. Arthur St. in Warsaw, will host his Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. At 11 a.m., Chaplain Layne Sumner will give a speech, and there will be a reception until 3 p.m. Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, located at 225 Argonne Road in Warsaw, was tasked with making the arrangements.
