Letter Writer Apologizes To The Community

Published On:

Dear Editor,

Dear All of Kosciusko County and InkFreeNews: First off, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is Grant Slater. I’m 36, and I’ve been a member of the Kosciusko community for almost all of my life. I’ve resided in Chicago, Indianapolis, Marion and Cicero for a short number of years but mainly in my hometown of Warsaw.

I’m writing this as an apology for my actions as an alcoholic for most of my adult life. I’ve also struggled with substance abuse problems as well.

This past year has been a roller coaster as I’ve been trying to become a better person and prove that I can be a productive member of the community. I have so many friends and loved ones I’ve let down, and I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart if this applies to you.

I’m currently seeking treatment and work, and I am continuing to get healthier and stronger mentally every day. I just recently accepted the only thing I know that’s true and accepted Jesus into my heart, and boy does it feel amazing. Most important, I’ve been able to forgive myself. If it wasn’t for him, none of this could have been possible.

Once again, I truly apologize, and I hope to see you all again so you can meet the real Grant again. Thank you and God bless.

Grant Slater
